Training week on establishing local woodfuel supply chains in Austria and Finland in September and October 2011
In frame of the AFO project, training weeks on establishing local woodfuel supply chains will be organised in Finland and in Austria. Both Austria and Finland are model countries for woodfuel utilisation with biomass playing a major role for regional energy supply. Transferring these best practise to European experts will be an excellent opportunity to gain practical guidance for organising the whole supply chain from forest management and harvesting to the operation of small- and medium-scale heating plants.
Date of training weeks:
The training week in Finland will be held from 3. to 7. October 2011 in Jyväskylä.
The training week in Austria will be held from 3. to 7. October 2011 in Wieselburg (Lower Austria).

The following topics will be covered during the training:
- The Biomass Production Chain: Harvesting and conversion technology and related costs
- Successful business models in Austria and possible implementation in other EU countries
- Workshops for the establishment of regional woodfuel supply chains
- Profitability check and calculation of woodfuel procurement costs
- Face-to-face meetings with Austrian experts and practitioners
- Study tours to demonstrate different woodfuel harvesting sites, biomass logistics, quality management and local heating plants
Preliminary training agenda:
The training including lunch and coffee breaks will be free of charge for a selected number of participants!
The training sessions will be held in English and French (training week Austria) language.
